Last Saturday night I asked Christina to marry me and she said YES! We are very excited and looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together.

Now everyone wants to hear the story about how I proposed etc, so here it is….

Christina came down to Canberra for Easter and on Saturday went to see Cirque du Soleil’s Varekai which was fantastic. Then I took her to dinner at a flash restaurant overlooking Lake Burley Griffin (the Boathouse by the Lake) and afterwards we went up to Mt Taylor which is a little south of Canberra. It was a beautifully clear night and so we sat on a rug and looked at the stars (which is something we often like doing). Then after a while I got down on one knee, pulled out the ring and asked and she said yes! I managed to pull off a surprise as well (although its been on the cards for a while) as Christina’s parents hadn’t give anything away (I’d asked her father’s permission a few weeks earlier). It was a memorable evening and we are really happy and looking forward to the future together.

We haven’t set a date for the wedding yet but it will be in the first half of next year and in Sydney. When we know more we will let people know. Thank you all for your messages of congratulations and for those who have said they will be praying for us. Both are greatly appreciated (and needed – marriage is a big step).

Our apologies to anyone who happened to find out by looking at this blog - we tried to call, SMS or email as many people as possible but are bound to have unintentionally missed a few people.
