Trip to Wagga
Over the weekend I visited an old friend from high school, Matt Beaver and his wife Vanita in Australia’s largest inland city, Wagga Wagga. I met up with Jason & Naomi Barber (I also went to school with Jay) in Yass and we proceeded on to Wagga late on Friday night. We all had a great weekend hanging out and catching up - I hadn’t seen Matt & Vanita in well over a year and hadn’t actually had a chance to talk with them properly since their wedding just over 3 years ago! On Saturday it was 38 degrees C so we headed to Wagga Beach for a swim. Despite being a long way in land, Wagga does have a beach! It’s actually the Murrumbidgee River and it was very refreshing.
On Sunday we went to Matt & Vanita’s church in the morning which was a lot of fun. I randomly ran into Mike Wong and his wife Carla (who will be known to Sydney Uni EU people) at the hotel that Jay & Naomi were staying at. It was so bizzare - there was only one other group of people in the restaurant having breakfast and I happened to know them! Mike & Carla, who now live in Wagga (Mike teaches down the road in Gundegai), were having breakfast with some friends who were visiting them from Sydney. Very bizzare!
Anyway, we headed back home around lunchtime on Sunday, I picked up my car from Yass and got back to Canberra just in time for church. It was a really enjoyable weekend. Thanks for having me, Matt & Vanita.

Wagga Wagga is the NSW’s largest inland city. It is Australia’s fifth largest inland city. Canberra, with a population of over 332,000, is Australia’s largest inland city.
